Dear Parents / Guardians,

We have been privileged this week to enjoy a visitation from Sr Katherine Mary O’Flynn fcJ, General Superior of the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus, and Sr Paula Mullen, member of Sr Katherine’s leadership team based in Broadstairs, Kent. This has been part of Sr Katherine’s
visitation to each of the FCJ ministries in Asia and Australia and we greatly valued the time to meet with the Sisters in this way. The Year 7 students were delighted to have our guests at their assembly this morning and Sr Katherine presented certificates for the Marie Madeleine D’Houet Prize for Religious Writing.

On 30 October, we celebrated World Teachers’ Day, an annual celebration established by UNESCO in 1994 to draw public attention to the important role of teachers in building a better future for the world’s children. As a College community we recognise and give thanks for our teachers, and for their outstanding contributions in helping our students to recognise their potential academically, spiritually and socially.

As we prepare for Advent next month, it is the time of the year when as a College we prepare the Christmas Hampers to support the St Vincent de Paul annual appeal and provide gifts to support the work of Open Family. This is a significant part of the College’s end of year program and I commend your daughters’ wonderful contributions to these worthy causes through Homeroom
and thank you for your support.

We are entering a very busy time as we approach the end of the school year. An enormous amount of work and preparation is undertaken by our staff to support the Year 10 – 11 students as they prepare for exams and to be available to our VCE students for consultation. The College Events Calendar attached to this newsletter highlights the number of events for the next fortnight and much work is in preparation for the weeks following.

With my very best wishes

Patricia Cowling
