Expectations of Staff in a Child Safe School

Genazzano FCJ College is committed to creating and maintaining a child safe environment in which students feel safe and are safe. A condition of employment is that staff are deemed to be a person suitable to work with children. Genazzano FCJ College has a Child Safe Policy and a Child Safety Code of Conduct. All staff members of the school are subject to and expected to comply with the Child Safe Policy and the Child Safety Code of Conduct.

Teaching at Genazzano

We offer our teaching staff a dynamic learning environment in which to expand their innovative attitudes and practices. Our teachers bring a range of academic expertise and life experience to our classrooms. They are passionate about the subjects they teach and they continually inspire our students to achieve their educational goals. As a teacher at Genazzano, you will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing professional development and enjoy progressive classroom facilities including interactive whiteboards, a wireless network and a personal laptop computer.

Non-Teaching Staff

Non-teaching staff are essential in the day-to-day operations of our College. We employ non-teaching staff in the following areas:

Enterprise Agreement

Genazzano staff are currently employed under the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Employer Agreement 2013. This agreement includes employment terms and conditions, including salary scales, classifications, superannuation and other entitlements.

Employee Assistance Program

The employee assistance program offered through Catholic Care addresses the needs of Genazzano employees, through a comprehensive range of services, at the core of which is short-term, professional counselling using evidence-based psychological interventions.

Facilities

There are many facilities that are available to staff on campus, including access to the Chapel, Health Centre, Libraries and Cafeteria. The majority of the facilities at the College are also available for staff to hire with prior notice.

Professional Development

At Genazzano, we are committed to providing ongoing professional development for teaching and non-teaching staff. An application process is available for staff wishing to complete a professional development activity. Student-free days are allocated each year for the professional development for the whole staff. All full-time and part-time staff are required to attend these days.

Social Club

The Genazzano Social Club is a group of teaching and non-teaching staff who volunteer their time to organise events such as special morning teas, lunches and social gatherings

Sport and Recreation

As a staff member at Genazzano, you will have the use of some of the best facilities available in any school, including:

  • 25-metre heated indoor swimming pool (when lanes are available)
  • grass oval
  • six tennis/netball courts
  • circuit and fitness room.

Some of the sports programs offered include the following:

Recreational swimming

The pool is available for use by staff at designated times all year round, providing enormous therapeutic and health benefits.

Fun running

If you feel the need for a breath of fresh air, regular runs are a feature of life at Genazzano and the pace is suited to all levels of fitness, with staff always present to lend a few words of encouragement.

Tennis

Use of the popular tennis/netball courts is of necessity controlled by a booking system out of school hours. Staff can enjoy a casual or regular game of tennis by pre-booking a court on weekdays, after school and at weekends (depending on availability).

Sport coaching

The PE department is keen to ‘recruit’ any staff member who has interest or special talent in any of the following sports:

  • softball
  • tennis
  • swimming
  • athletics
  • water polo
  • netball
  • badminton
  • hockey
  • volleyball
  • cricket
  • basketball
  • cross-country

Matches take place after school. Training sessions are generally held before school or at lunchtime. Other members of staff are most welcome to assist with coaching or attendance at matches.

Salary Packaging

Genazzano offers a range of salary-packaging options for full-time and part-time teaching and non-teaching staff. Some of these include vehicle leasing and voluntary contributions to superannuation funds.
