Year 10 Course Structure
Core Subjects
All Year 10 students complete the below core subjects throughout the entire year. Humanities, Mathematics, and Religious Education are core subjects with student-choice options.
Please note that the running of a student choice option within a core subject is dependent on student preferences.

Electives
In addition to the core subjects, Year 10 students at Genazzano undertake four elective ‘units’. A semester-based subject is the equivalent of 1 unit, and a year-long subject (such as a language or VCE accelerated study) is the equivalent of 2 units. i.e. there are three possible combinations.
- 4 Semester length electives
- 1 full year subject and 2 semester length electives
- 2 full-year subjects

All subjects must meet minimum class number requirements to be conducted Face-to-Face in 2026.
A minimum class size of 8 is required for Year 10 electives to run. If a Year 10 language class does not meet minimum requirements, it will be offered in Studio Mode or Online Mode through Studio Beyond. If a Year 10 semester-length elective does not meet the minimum requirements, it will not be offered in 2026. The College reserves the right to decide whether a course runs in a specified Mode.
Accelerated VCE Unit 1 & 2 Full Year Studies
At Genazzano, we afford some Year 10 students the opportunity to accelerate in one* course of study if they meet certain academic and study requirements. Please note that while VCE studies listed here may be selected in preferences, due to timetable constraints or insufficient numbers, we cannot guarantee a subject will run in the Year 10 elective lines.
