Gen Swim

Starting from 2022, Genazzano FCJ College will bring these Learn to Swim classes into our own aquatics program, enabling the full end to end delivery of swimming lessons, from beginner through to national squad level, to the broader community.

Please email [email protected] to register or find out more.

GenSwim offers a wide range of programs to suit swimmers from three years of age through to adults. The program aims to provide swimmers with sound stroke technique and survival skills while striving to make every lesson enjoyable and encouraging a real love for the sport. As a result, GenSwim has incorporated the Life Saving Victoria guidelines into its Learn to Swim program.

Meet Matt Welsh, Head of Aquatics and Head Swimming Coach

Swim School Levels

Learn to Swim (3 years old +)

Our new GenSwim School structure is divided into three levels: Starfish, Seahorse and Dolphin. Each level offers tailored classes to suit the ability of your child, from Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Starfish Beginner offers first time swimmers a chance to gain water familiarisation skills and confidence in the pool environment (20 minute class).

Students in Starfish Intermediate are able to extend their learning to include fundamental swimming skills such as kicking and floating (30 minute class).

Starfish Advanced swimmers are able to further develop their abilities, as well as learn crucial water safety and survival techniques (30 minute class).

Students in Seahorse levels are able to build on their previously learned skills through the introduction of freestyle and backstroke teaching in Seahorse Beginner, while Seahorse Intermediate students are extended in their swimming ability to swim further and for longer (30 minute classes).

Seahorse Advanced students are offered a 40 minute class in order to develop their strength and fitness, while maintaining efficient swimming technique and building on survival skills.

Dolphin levels offer swimmers the opportunity to train in a supportive environment during 1 hour classes, with Dolphin Beginner fostering effective swimming technique in all strokes.

This technique is developed further in Dolphin Intermediate, in addition to swimmers improving their fitness and transitioning to competitive style swimming.

Dolphin Advanced, the highest level in our program, prepares swimmers to move to the associated GenAquatic Swimming Club.

Our Instructors

All of our instructors are Austswim accredited to ensure that we can cater for your needs. We pride ourselves on our friendly and caring nature as well as our passion for swimming and coaching our students to success. We have purposefully created small class sizes to ensure you or your child feel confident in the water.

We have a number of instructors who are also qualified to teach swimmers with disabilities, as well as adults, infants and competitive strokes. The majority of our instructors are also lifeguard qualified to ensure optimal safety at all times.
