How learning a language shapes the brain

Learning another language has clear benefits for ease of communication and world travel.  Dan Roitman of the Huffington Post suggests that all language is powerful and can shape the way we think.  More than this, he suggests that being bilingual can actually change your brain at a more fundamental level including: better developed regions for memory, planning and reasoning and increased skills in multitasking.
